Texas Judge Beats Daughter in Viral Video: Twitter Reaction (Video)

The video of Texas Judge William Adams beating his then 16-year old daughter with a leather belt in 2004 is creating a slew of angry reactions on Twitter.

The video, which has been viewed more than 1 million times, has been called “disgraceful” and “wrong” and even has Twitter users questioning Adams’ ability to preside over cases as a judge.

Deshanixox tweeted: “Disgraceful! That isn’t discipline that ABUSE…… and you call yourseld a judge.”

PrestonHornsby tweeted: “Just saw the #TexasJudge video… uhhh, disgusting.”

The hash tag #TexasJudge trended in the wake of the video’s release and continues to gain momentum as the video goes viral.

EllyGirrl tweeted: “What this #TexasJudge does to his daughter literally makes me sick.”

JalinMarieC tweeted: “Just to go ahead and put my opinion out there, that Texas judge beating his child w a belt is wronf on far too many levels.”

Hillary Adams, the judge’s daughter, said she posted the video of the beating to draw attention to the abuse her father inflicts.

“My father’s harassment was getting really bad, so I decided to finally publish the video I had been sitting on for seven years,” Hillary told KRIS.

The judge downplayed the severity of the beating in interviews.

"No, in my mind I haven't done anything wrong other than discipline my child after she was caught stealing,” said Judge Adams to KZTV. “And I did lose my temper, but I've since apologized."

The videos, and the subsequent comments by the judge, have sparked comments on Twitter of vigilante justice aimed at the judge.

ElroyArt tweeted: “…Just saw the #TexasJudge say he feels (he) did nothing wrong in ‘spanking’his daughter – albeit violently and prolonged with a belt, WTF!”
