Roan Turns the Table on Clarke in 'The 100' Season 4 Episode 5

King Roan (Zach McGowan) will not fold under pressure even though Clarke (Eliza Taylor) has him by the neck in the next episode of "The 100."

In the episode titled "The Tinder Box," the promo reveals that Clarke will do everything she can to convince Roan to help Arkadia survive the nuclear apocalypse. With options running out, the Sky People will perish if their leader will not be able to find a way to save them from Armageddon. Clarke needs to make alliances now, avoid fights and focus on survival. Arkadia cannot afford to go to war against Skaikru. Last episode, Clarke tried to make a deal with Roan by handing him the flame. She hoped that he would see that the only way for them to stay alive is by sticking together.

The clip shows, however, that Clarke has taken the coercion too far. While she continues her negotiation with Roan, some of her men are undercover, ready to kill the tribe leader. It looks like Roan does not want to help and Clarke is blackmailing him, stating that they can easily overpower them.

Unfortunately for Clarke, she has underestimated Roan's cunning. He turns the tables on her when he reveals he has captured a couple of her men. They will be killed in front of her if she makes a wrong move. What will happen in this standoff?

Showrunner Jason Rothenberg recently told Entertainment Weekly that Clarke's task is no joke. As the leader of the Sky People, she is responsible for so many lives. Although Clarke is a strong woman, the EP said there would come a time when she would struggle under all the responsibilities she is carrying on her shoulders.

"Greatness was thrust upon her. She didn't go out looking for this. It was just revealed to be who she is, and she can handle it. She's a pretty sharp cookie in terms of being able to figure out the right choice. [But] this season we will see it weighing on her for sure. It's an interesting journey for Clarke. There are some scenes down field in later episodes where we really see the weight of it on her," the EP teased.

"The 100" season 4 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on the CW.
