'The Blacklist: Redemption' Season 1 Episode 3 Spoilers: Matias Goes on a Solo Hunt

Scottie (Famke Janssen) has a special mission for Matias (Edi Gathegi) in the upcoming episode of "The Blacklist: Redemption."

In the episode titled "Independence, U.S.A." the synopsis (according to TV Guide) reveals that Scottie wants information regarding her estranged husband, Howard (Terry O'Quinn). Viewers of the series are aware that the Hargraves are not in good terms. Howard faked his own death in a plane crash because he thought Scottie was the one behind the attack. Scottie, on the other hand, thinks that her husband is planning something against her.

Both Scottie and Howard's lives were turned upside down the moment they lost their son, Christopher, over 30 years ago. They still do not know that the child has grown up to become the mysterious Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold). The Hargraves thought that little Christopher was murdered. Tom has yet to reveal his true identity to his mother. He thinks it is not yet the right time.

In a recent interview with New York Times, Janssen talked about her character's life mission.

"Scottie is a woman with a lot of layers, and as the season progresses we'll unravel some of those. Her son went missing, and that is the biggest mystery in her life and also what defines her ultimately," Janssen teased.

Meanwhile, Scottie will be asking Matias to do the scouting for her. She knows he will do a good job shadowing Howard.

As for the rest of Team Halcyon, she has a special assignment for them. Tom and Nez (Tawny Cypress) will be sent to Russia to investigate a confounding enigma. The promo shows that they will go undercover in a mysterious, top-secret military facility. What will shock them is that the Russians have built a base that looks like an American town deep in the Ural Mountains.

"The Blacklist: Redemption" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
