Howard (Terry O'Quinn) is planning something against his estranged wife, Scottie (Famke Janssen), in the upcoming episode of "The Blacklist: Redemption."
In the episode titled "Borealis 301," the synopsis (according to TV Guide) reveals that Howard will ask Tom (Ryan Eggold) to launch his own probe on Scottie. Previously, he revealed his suspicions that she is a Russian sleeper agent. Tom has yet to make up his mind about Scottie, though. He still wants to observe more and see concrete evidence before making his move. Although his father is sure that Scottie is up to no good, Tom remains conflicted. What will he do?
Meanwhile, Tom's time with Scottie and the Halcyon squad means being away from his wife and kid. Liz (Megan Boone) let Tom find answers to his question regarding his past. She knew he would not be at peace if he did not learn the truth about his identity.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eggold spoke about the distance between his character and Liz. At the moment, "The Blacklist" is currently on hiatus. The action has shifted to its spinoff, where Tom has joined Scottie's team as an agent.
"Right now, his plans are to return home at some point, but I think that if he stays at Halcyon, they would have to figure out what that means for their relationship. It would either be that he would make it home and bounce back and forth, or they would figure out if they need to let the relationship go or change the arrangements. I don't know if a long distance thing is really in their future; it's too early to say. I don't think Tom or Liz have planned that far ahead," Eggold said.
Meanwhile, the promo for the episode reveals that Tom and Matias (Edi Gathegi) will be sent by Scottie on another dangerous assignment. The two will go undercover to foil a hijacking attempt on an international flight. In the clip, they will try to stop thieves from running away with the classified information they stole. The fight will quickly get out of hand though as the teaser shows two men being sucked out of the plane when one of its cabin doors is forced open.
"The Blacklist: Redemption" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
