'The Orville' Spoilers: Kelly Leads a Covert Mission to Recover Missing Anthropologists

Next on the Seth MacFarlane-led science fiction series "The Orville," the crew will go on a mission to find two Union anthropologists.

As revealed in the synopsis for episode 7, titled "Majority Rule," Captain Ed (Seth MacFarlane) dispatches a team led by Kelly (Adrienne Palicki) to an alien planet much like the 21st century in Earth to find two of Union's anthropologists. The mission quickly takes a drastic turn when they learn of the society's form of government, which relies on a public voting system to decide one's punishment.

The teaser for "Majority Rule" shows Kelly and her team being surrounded by the inhabitants of the planet, technology-crazed individuals who pretty much look like Earth's humans. While they attempt to escape, the planet's inhabitants raise their mobile devices as if these were their only weapons against the foreign invaders.

"Do you have any idea how bad this is?" the spacecraft's captain says of his crewmates' dilemma.

"Everybody strap in," Ed urges the rest of the crew of "The Orville" as they speed up to reach the alien planet before its inhabitants subject Kelly and her team to unspeakable punishments. An intergalactic battle is imminent, and it seems like the Orville will be lighting up space by blowing up their enemy's spacecraft.

For the uninitiated, MacFarlane's "The Orville" is an hour-long drama/comedy that is roughly based on the futuristic setting of "Star Trek." It first premiere on Sept 10 at 8 p.m. but was later on moved to Thursdays.

"The Orville" sets off in outer space searching for intergalactic baddies. In the previous episode, they also went undercover for a mission to defeat the alien race called the Krill which has threatened to defeat a brand-new colony.

"The Orville" episode 7, titled "Majority Rule," airs Thursday, Oct. 19 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
