Looking ahead, Paul Wesley previewed that season six of the television series will be completely "reset."

"[The finale] definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in season six," the actor, who portrays Stefan, warned TVGuide. "They reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place."

Meanwhile, another "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder also opened up about what is in store for fans in the finale, promising a major twist, according to E! News.

"I think the ending is really gonna throw people," the actor, who portrays Damon on the television series. "And it definitely involves Damon in a very cool way. I'm actually excited to see what happens."

The actor went on to tease that the season five closer would include some "very very cool stuff with Damon, Elena, Bonnie- stuff you just didn't see." When asked if the finale was a cliffhanger, Somerhalder replied "definitely."

Additionally, executive producer Julie Plec recently teased fans with even more information about Damon in the finale.

"There's quite a lot of suffering and celebration in the last two episodes," she said. "Because of Marko's efforts to make the town of Mystic Falls a magic-free zone and the imminent destruction of the Other Side, lots of lives are in jeopardy and Damon has to, as he says, 'strap on his hero hair.'"

"The Vampire Diaries" will air Thursdays on The CW at 8 p.m. EST. The synopsis for this week's episode "Home" is as follows: "Season 5 ends with Damon trying to stop the disintegration of the Other Side. Meanwhile, Elena takes matters into her own hands and demands that Liv and Luke help her; and Markos uses violence against Tyler/Julian to prove that Mystic Falls is under the control of the Travelers."
