Tim Tebow and Dwyane Wade Booed at Yankees Game

Tim Tebow, 24-year-old New York Jets quarterback, was booed by fans at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, while watching a game against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

Tebow was accompanied by 30-year-old NBA shooting guard Dwyane Wade, who was in town after his Miami Heat beat the New York Knicks early Sunday. After the pair was shown on the giant board in their Yankees hats, they were initially met with boos from the crowd.

However, Tebow decided to smile at the crowd while Wade showed off his Yankee hat which ignited a few cheers from the crowd. Still, people took notice that the pair sitting next to the Los Angeles Angels dugout was not given a positive reception.

"Tough town," one person tweeted about the incident.

However David Robertson, Yankees relief pitcher, seemed to understand that Yankees fans may not be keen on the Jets newest quarterback.

"I said, 'Wow, they put Tebow up.' That was funny," Robertson said. "I'm sure there were cheers and boos. They say this is Giants territory."

Fans of the Jets took to Twitter to further explain Yankees fans booing Tebow's appearance.

"I am a Mets and Jets fan," one fan tweeted. "We are more civilized than Yankee fans."

Despite the fact that many Yankees fans were not in support of the Jets' newest addition, members of the team didn't seem to mind his presence at the game.

"I didn't get a chance to see him," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I would have loved to get a chance to see him and talk to him. I'm sure he'll be back at some point. Obviously he's going to be around a lot more now. But I'd love to visit with him at some point." Girardi's team was able to pull out an 11-5 victory over the Angels.

Tebow will officially begin practicing with the Jets on Monday for the upcoming 2012-2013 NFL season.
