Lebron James Speaks out for Tim Tebow
Lebron James took to his twitter account on Wednesday to defend Tim Tebow in what has been an ongoing debate about the Denver Broncos quarterback’s starting position over teammate Kyle Orton this season.
Rumors of Orton’s trade and Tebow taking on a leadership quarterback position on the team have caused speculation. ESPN analyst Merril Hoge appeared on the “Mike & Mike in the Morning” sports radio show on Thursday, claiming that Tebow, former Heisman trophy winner, is nothing more than industry hype.
"He is awful as far as accuracy goes and what's kind of even more disturbing, he's probably worse moving and running around with the football and throwing than he is from the pocket," Hoge said in a statement on the ESPN network.
The analyst also posted thoughts concerning Tebow’s lack of ability to survive in the NFL on twitter.
"Sitting watching tape of Bronco offense from last year,” Hoge tweeted. “Orton or Tebow? It's embarrassing to think the broncos could win with Tebow!!"
After Hoge’s statements, NBA All-Star James joined in the twitter debate, seemingly upset with the analyst’s criticism.
"Tim Tebow will succeed in the NFL. He's a hard worker, a student of the game, a natural born leader and most of all a WINNER! It takes time and he'll be nice, " James tweeted on Wednesday. "Listened to Merril Hoge today on SC and he was just blasting Tebow. The man hasn't even play a full season and its only his 2nd year in. Guys get on that TV and act like they was all WORLD when they played. How bout encouraging him and wishing him the best instead of hating!!"
Tebow also logged onto his Twitter account to fend for himself on Thursday.
“Hey Merril..'ppreciate that. @King James & everyone else that’s always had my back, thank you,” the quarterback wrote. “Just like @coachsmartvcu said, 'One important thing in sports, it doesn't matter what anybody else says.' #Fuel”
