Tim Tebow Jets Conference: Quarterback Introduced as Member of Team

Tim Tebow was officially announced as a member of the New York Jets Monday, following the mass controversy which ended in Peyton Manning taking over as quarterback for the Broncos and Tebow taking second string to the Jets' quarterback, Mark Sanchez.

Many have questioned the Jet's move to acquire yet another quarterback, after they signed a new five-year contract with Sanchez only two weeks before they acquired Tebow. Some have rumored that the Jets are attempting to steal the spotlight from the New York Giants, stealing the glory from their 2011 Super Bowl win.

"This should be the Giants' moment to bask in another title, but it's the Jets who have been dominating the headlines," the New York Daily News reported. "Eli Manning may be a two-time Super Bowl MVP, but does anybody really care what Broadway show he might take in?" the new site asked, commenting on the recent articles that circulated the internet after Tebow attended "Wicked" on Broadway over the weekend.

Tebow however, appeared very humbled while at Monday's press conference. The quarterback began with an opening statement.

"A lot of people here," Tebow chuckled, appearing embarrassed. "You know it's such an honor for me to be here. I want to start by thanking the Broncos and all of my teammates and fans who were such great teammates and fans."

Tebow had nothing but positive things to say about the Jets.

"I'm looking forward to my future as a Jet and I'm very, very excited about it," he stated. Tebow denied that the Jets had acquired him as a publicity stunt. "I don't think it's true," Tebow stated. "The Jets get a lot of support as is, I think it has more to do with the coaches believing in me and thinking that I'm an ok football player."

Tebow also expressed excitement about working with Mark Sanchez.

"From my conversations with him, he was excited about working with me. I have a lot of respect for him. He's always handled himself with so much respect and integrity," Tebow said. He suggested that he and Sanchez had developed a relationship over the past three years, and held hope for their future relationship.

"We're going to have a great relationship and great working relationship," Tebow affirmed. "Hopefully we'll be able to thrive together," he added.
