Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock's 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' Trailer Released

The new film “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” released its trailer Thursday. The movie told the heart-breaking story of a boy who lost his father in the 9/11 terror attacks.

Based on Jonathan Safran Foer’s poignant 2005 novel, the film featured Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, who played the parents of Oskar.

Thomas Horn made his big screen debut, in the role of 9-year-old Oskar, the son coping with the death of his father.

Horn was the 13-year-old “Jeopardy!” Kids Week champion who won $31,800 on the popular game show.

Arriving 10 years after the 9/11 attacks on New York City, the adaptation of Foer’s best-selling novel has Oskar embarking on a quest leading him to unexpected people and places. All of which contributed to an emotional story of healing.

The trailer teased the start of Horn’s quest – also showing a snippet of people that he met on his imaginative journey.

U2’s song “Where the Streets Have No Name” served as a musical backdrop to the movie’s preview.

Three-time Academy Award nominee Stephen Daldry was the film’s director. Daldry is known for his work on “Billy Elliot,” “The Hours,” and “The Reader.” Eric Roth of “Forest Gump” was also a part of this Oscar-friendly cast as a screenwriter.

The film has already generated Academy buzz. The Hollywood Reporter’s awards blogger Scott Feinberg has projected it as a Best Picture front-runner.

“Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” will open in select cities on Christmas Day and play nationwide January 20.
