Trump promises $5K 'Trump dividend' to every American if GOP keeps Congress

President Donald Trump promised during the keynote address at the Republican National Midterm Convention in Dallas on Wednesday that every American citizen will receive a $5,000 "Trump dividend" if Republicans maintain control of Congress this November.

Trump offered the financial incentive during a meandering, two-hour speech that emphasized the necessity of winning congressional majorities to protect the U.S. from Democrat policies that he described as communism and likened to "a crazy little sick cloud over our country."

"But what we're doing is, because we've done so well and because our country is making so much money, that only I can make this promise to you, and here is my promise," Trump said.

"If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, because of our tremendous economic success — like in history, we've never had anything like what's happening. But because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000," he continued.

Trump likened the offer to a successful company providing a cash distribution to its shareholders, or the one-time, tax-free "Warrior Dividend" of $1,776 that nearly 1.5 million U.S. service members received in December 2025. He also touted the tax-advantaged custodial investment accounts, or so-called "Trump accounts," for U.S. citizens born since Jan. 1, 2025, which are seeded with a one-time $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury.

Trump went on to explain to applause that "the only condition" on the potential $5,000 dividend is that the money "must be spent in the United States of America."

"We don't want you going to Canada to spend the money. We don't want you going to China, to Germany. You got to spend the money in the United States of America," he reiterated.

"So if the Republicans win, you win with us, and you get $5,000. It will be called the Trump Dividend; we'll call it the Trump Dividend. Congratulations! Now all we have to do is win."

Throughout the rest of his address, Trump framed the upcoming midterm elections in existential terms, echoing claims that the Democratic Party's policies will wreak havoc if they are allowed to regain power.

"I'm asking you to pretend that I'm on the ballot, just one more time. Because if we lose, you're going to lose your border, you're going to lose your tax cuts, you're going to lose your safety and security, you're going to lose your wealth," he said.

"You will be going through Hell, like you did just two years ago. We went through Hell. We were a laughingstock all over the world."

Trump paid special attention to the close U.S. Senate race between Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico and Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Mocking him as "a weird-looking dude" who resembles Alfred E. Neuman, Trump called Talarico "Talafreako" and claimed he wants to "dismantle capitalism," hates Christianity, believes God is transgender, thinks the American flag is a "complicated symbol," and said he "loves" transgender children.

He also elicited laughter from the audience for a riff about Talarico pretending to like eating meat and recently having been seen wearing a mask.

"Freedom-loving patriots of Texas are going to defeat Talarico and elect Ken Paxton to protect the Lone Star State," he said before pivoting to the crowd size.

Toward the end of his speech, Trump also mentioned the one-year anniversary of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk's assassination, which falls on Thursday.

"Exactly one year ago tomorrow, a far-left extremist assassinated my great friend and conservative voice, Charlie Kirk, because Charlie Kirk spoke the truth," he said, noting the troubling implications of the fact that many Americans celebrated his murder.

"For a brief moment, the mask came off the radical Left, and you saw what they were really all about. And now those same people are trying to get power over you in this election, and they are all voting Democrat," he said.

"And you can't let it happen. We will not let them win," he added.
