Trump and Steve Mnuchin have political and business ties that predate Mnuchin being picked to serve as secretary of the Treasury Department.

In May, Trump appointed Mnuchin to serve as his campaign finance manager, describing the Wall Street businessman as "a professional at the highest level with an extensive and very successful financial background."

"He brings unprecedented experience and expertise to a fundraising operation that will benefit the Republican Party and ultimately defeat Hillary Clinton," stated Trump back in May.

According to Bloomberg, Trump and Mnuchin have known each other for 15 years and have done business together during that time period.
