Trump warns 'Godless communists' will 'close your churches' if they gain power
2. Trump on his administration’s accomplishments on behalf of people of faith
Trump also touted his administration’s record on behalf of people of faith. Among them, he cited the creation of the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty, the White House Faith Office and the White House Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias.
He also pointed to an upcoming commission report containing recommendations to strengthen religious liberty protections.
Trump said his administration had ended what he described as the Biden administration's "weaponization" of government against people of faith and promoted policies protecting churches, synagogues and religious expression.
“I got rid of the sinister Johnson Amendment so that pastors can speak the truth,” Trump said, referring to the provision in federal tax law making a church’s tax-exempt status contingent upon its pastors not making political endorsements.
The president detailed his steps to protect “churches and synagogues by prosecuting mobs of radical left lunatics and agitators who try to harass and intimidate people in their places of worship” and highlighted the removal of “federal funding for any school that pushes transgender insanity of our youth.”
The president also highlighted his executive order combating antisemitism, the restoration of the Mexico City Policy that prohibits the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions overseas.
He also mentioned the new federal guidance supporting prayer in public schools and his administration's efforts to prohibit federal funding for schools that promote gender ideology.
Trump then pointed to the administration's policy recognizing that there are only two sexes and its efforts to prohibit the chemical and surgical mutilation of minors suffering from gender dysphoria.
