Trump warns 'Godless communists' will 'close your churches' if they gain power

3. Trump warns of threat of ‘Godless communists’

Trump reserved some of his strongest rhetoric for Democrats, repeatedly describing them as "Godless communists" and warning that they pose a threat to Christianity and the nation's future.

He expressed particular concern about the prospect of Democrats taking control of one or both chambers of Congress in the midterm elections, calling it the “most serious threat to our country since its existence.”

He characterized the far-left political opponents as “communists” and warned, “They want to completely destroy the traditional American way of life.”

"These are not social democrats," he said. "These are hardcore Godless communists."

"All communists are Godless," Trump continued, arguing that communist governments have historically targeted religion.

"These ruthless communists will attack all religions, but in particular Christianity," he said. "They're after Christianity more than any other religion."

Trump again mentioned America’s 250th birthday, lamenting that “Instead of speaking about Christ, instead of speaking about freedom and victories of all kinds, we’re speaking about yet another threat to the foundations of America.”

The president warned that if Democrats regain power, "They will close your churches in this country. They want to end religion. They have to end religion because their ideology doesn't work."

He concluded by urging attendees to vote in the midterm elections, arguing that religious liberty and other administration priorities are at stake.

"We have to win this election," Trump said. "This election's very vital."

Ending on an optimistic note, Trump predicted the country would become "stronger, safer, better, more prosperous and more faithful than ever before," adding that he believes "God will continue to bless the United States of America."
