5. White House establishes Fraud.gov
The White House announced Thursday the establishment of the website Fraud.gov. The stated purpose of the new website is to enable Americans to “track every action, every takedown, and every dollar recovered as part of the unrelenting effort” undertaken by the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.
The Trump administration vowed that it “will not rest until every scheme is exposed, every recoverable dollar is returned to the American people, and public trust is restored.”
“Since the Task Force began its work, it has uncovered nearly $230 billion in fraud, stopped $56 billion in fraudulent payments that would have gone into the pockets of criminals, enforced more than $55 billion through indictments, settlements, and civil penalties, and secured hundreds of indictments and convictions,” the White House explained.
The website contains detailed information about fraud uncovered, stopped and enforced by the agency, with the Small Business Administration uncovering the highest amount of fraud ($122.9 billion) and HHS having the highest amount of both fraudulent payments stopped ($46 billion) and fraud enforced ($30.5 billion).
The unveiling of Fraud.gov comes a day after the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud held a roundtable featuring members of the U.S. Congress. At the event, Vice President JD Vance called on Congress to codify the task force's efforts to ensure they cannot be reversed by a future administration.
