5 highlights from Tulsi Gabbard's release of Fauci, COVID-19 documents: 'Straight from the deep state playbook'
3. Documents allegedly contradict Fauci's 2024 congressional testimony
The release claimed the declassified documents suggest Fauci perjured himself during his June 2024 testimony before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
When asked repeatedly under oath whether he had spoken to the FBI, CIA, DIA or any U.S. intelligence agency concerning viral research or COVID origins before, during or after the pandemic, Gabbard claimed Fauci repeatedly stated variations of "not to my knowledge about COVID."
ODNI claimed some of the correspondence they released "directly contradicts Fauci's 2024 testimony," adding that "Fauci lied to Congress in 2024 when, under oath, he denied knowledge of or participation in discussions with intelligence officials about viral research."
According to an independent analysis of the declassified material by Lawfare, Gabbard's assertion misrepresented Fauci's statements to Congress, which the outlet claimed were often nuanced or clarifying.
