Urban Meyer's Wife Takes a Swipe at Colin Kaepernick, Says She Prefers Tim Tebow on QB

Shelley Meyer, the wife of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, recently proved how huge of a Tim Tebow fan she was. Following news reports that Colin Kaepernick had filed a grievance against the National Football League (NFL), allegedly for not having been signed by a team due to collusion, Shelley took to Twitter to take a swipe at Kaepernick by referring to his protest of racial injustice as negative choices.

"What-ever. He made his choices," tweeted Shelley on Monday, Oct. 16. After tweeting that, Shelley also responded to a tweet that said that Kaepernick was far from Tim Tebow, who was her husband's ex-star recruit at the University of Florida. "A million times. No comparison at all!!" said Shelley.

Shelley's tweets seemed to annoy other Twitter users, particularly Kaepernick's mom, Teresa. Replying to Shelley's tweet, Teresa said, "Her flip remark speaks volumes on where she stands on civil rights issues."

Another Twitter user also said, "Is this how the Meyers feel about Aaron Hernandez too?" Hernandez was a former player for Urban at the University of Florida who was convicted for the killing of Odin Lloyd. While in prison, he killed himself.

As such, a few hours after her controversial tweets, Shelley deleted her remarks and offered an apology. "I apologize for an earlier tweet that has had content injected by others that has nothing to do with my tweet," she said.

According to reports, Shelley shares a close relationship with Tebow, who paved the way for Urban's Florida Gators teams' two national titles. Shelley also revealed that she had learned "Faith, Family and Football" from her husband's former recruit.

Currently, Tebow is pursuing a career in baseball in the minor league system of Mets. He has never appeared in a regular season of the NFL since 2012. Meanwhile, Kaepernick held a 90.7 quarterback rating last year, passing for 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.
