4. German president affirms Ukraine support despite US fallout

Despite the tense White House meeting, Federal Chancellor of Germany Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz reiterated Germany’s support for Ukraine and President Zelensky.

“Nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians do,” Scholz wrote. “Therefore we are working on a common path to a lasting and just peace. Ukraine can rely on Germany — and on Europe.”

Germany has reportedly provided Ukraine with €43.6 billion since the Russian invasion in 2022, even as the two nations have discussed ways to “achieve a just peace.”
