'Vikings' Season 4 Cast News, Details: Upcoming Chapter to Introduce 3 Interesting New Characters

History Channel's hit historical TV drama series "Vikings" wrapped up its third season last month and it saw the departure of some of its major characters. A recent casting report meanwhile said that the void will be filled in with a number of new characters that will surely make the Norse drama even more interesting.

A report from Design & Trend cited The Hollywood Reporter pointing out to the three additional cast members, Peter Franzen, Jasper Paakkonen, and Dianne Doan.

As detailed out by the publication, Franzen, a Finnish actor who last appeared in "The Gunman" will play a Scandinavian warrior and king named Harald Finehair. His character, as said by the website, will be a "potential threat" to the might of Travis Fimmel's Ragnar Lothbrok.

Another Scandinavian actor, Paakkonen, will play the role of Halfdan the Black, the former's "younger brother." Meanwhile Doan will portray a certain Chinese character named Yidu. The latter is said to play "a big role" in the upcoming fourth installment.

Franzen has appeared on US television via HBO's hit supernatural drama series "True Blood" as well as on "CSI: Miami."

Paakkone, together with Franzen, has starred in the 2003 Finnish crime drama film "Bad Boys." Doan, on the other hand, has appeared on ABC's hit fantasy drama "Once Upon a Time" during its Season 2 run.

As for "Vikings," it was meanwhile confirmed by THR that the show is already shooting for its forthcoming season in Ireland. It is said that the next chapter will see a major time jump of a "couple of years" after the events on Paris.

"Vikings" Season 4 is expected to premiere sometime in 2016.
