Wal-Mart Ammunition Limit Holds Customers to 3 Boxes of Ammo Per Day

In response to the increased demand for ammunition at its stores, Wal-Mart revealed that it will begin to limit the amount of ammunition a customer can purchase on any given day.

A spokeswoman for the retailer stated that stores would be instructed to limit the number of ammunition boxes to three per customer, per day. The move was brought on due to shrinking supplies in the wake of the shooting in Newtown, Conn.

"In order to take care of as many customers as possible, starting Thursday, January 24, all ammunition sales were limited to three boxes per customer, per day as supply is limited at this time," spokeswoman Ashley Hardie told Reuters.

There has been a gun rush in the time since tragedy struck Newtown. Gun regulation along with proposals to limit the sale of military style assault weapons and hig- capacity magazines were introduced

President Obama, in keeping with his promise to bring about real gun control regulations, recently signed 23 executive orders which ranged from strengthening the federal back ground check system to improving the mental health care system in the country.

Wal-Mart U.S. is the largest branch of the Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which currently is the largest retailer in the world and the largest gun seller in the United States.

The company has continued to state in the face of stiff criticism that they are working to ensure that they provide firearms and accessories in a safe and responsible manner to customers without infringing on a customer's right to own firearms.

Yesterday, former congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford and her Husband Mark Kelly testified before a Senate committee on gun control and urged members of the panel to act.

"Speaking is difficult, but I need to say something important," Giffords began. "Violence is a big problem. Too many children are dying, too many children. We must do something. It will be hard, but the time is now. You must act. Be bold, be courageous, Americans are counting on you. Thank you," she concluded.
