What to Expect

The second season's finale had been a cliffhanger, and viewers are now questioning if a third season will come. But as of today, no confirmation of a renewal has been made yet.

According to reports, the second season's finale garnered the lowest of ratings so far for the series. However, show creator M. Night Shyamalan stated that the story can be lengthened to a third season.

"Wayward Pines" is a television adaptation of a novel by Blake Couch which has been revised along the way while the series is running. Even if Couch's tale ends in the series, Shyamalan can still expound a potentially good story for it.

The series' executive producer said that it can be a three-season story. He also added that the series can be finished given the opportunity to tell a third and final tale.

A lot of mysteries have been left unsolved during Season 2, and in a statement, Shyamalan had revealed that the thing about the abbies was a great revelation and the second season was all about them. He also teased that there is more to learn about the abbies than what have been shown in the series.

Fox believes in the potential of the "Wayward Pines" tale, and a possibility of a third season is surely to come along. "Wayward Pines" Season 3 can be expected by May 2017 if the series will get a renewal.

The mystery, science-fiction series is developed for television by Chad Hodge, while the pilot episode was directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Both Chad Hodge and Shyamalan are the executive producers of the show. The first season of the series premiered in Fox on May 14, 2015 and ended on July 23, 2015. Fox renewed the show for a second season on Dec. 9, 2015, which aired on May 25 and concluded on July 27, 2016.
