'Wentworth' Season 5 Release Date, Spoilers News: Revenge-Themed New Season Coming on April 4

The fifth season of "Wentworth" is on its way to fans of the show on Tuesday, April 4, on Showcase. The new season 5 also comes with a slogan that sets the theme for the rest of the season's episodes: "Revenge will set them free."

To the fans of Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack), the process of letting go will have to start now as the official "Wentworth" social media channels have put out two mini teasers that have done away with any lingering hope that Bea Smith could make it through alive after a brutal stabbing by Joan "The Freak" Ferguson (Pamela Rabe). The official "Wentworth" season 5 trailer has also been released, and it shows Allie behind bars, according to the Showcase Channel.

By the end of season four, the show looks to follow the rest of the prisoners after Bea's death at the hands of "The Freak." The two teasers on the "Wentworth" official Facebook page both show the rest of the prisoners form the words "Revenge will set us free." This statement alone sets the theme of the series for the rest of the season — from a sense of shock following the events of season four to a foreboding tension that could culminate in a violent season finale.

The teasers released by Foxtel does not give a hint on where they plan to start off the first episode of "Wentworth" season 5, as noted by the International Business Times in their feature for the show. An argument on whether or not the show will do a time jump can be made for both cases, but in the end, the teasers do confirm that Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) will be back in prison with the rest of the crew, and of course, Joan "The Freak."
