Wes Welker Super Bowl Ball Drop Game Losing Move? (VIDEO)

New England Patriot's Wes Welker is ready to take one for the team, suggesting that his failed catch led to the Giant's Super Bowl win Sunday.

Welker was feeling chalk full of "what ifs" Monday morning, after having time to reflect on the single catch that he missed that might have just changed the game. Welker has caught 122 passes this season during games, but failed to catch what could have been the game winning one.

After failing to catch the un-blocked pass, the Patriots lost their opportunity to get a first down and instead had to punt the ball. Following the punt, the Giants marched the first 88 yards that would lead to their victory and the game winning touchdown.

"I let my teammates down," Welker said, fighting back tears after the game had ended. Welker isn't letting anyone else take the downfall for his missed catch either. "It hit me right in the hands. It's a play I never drop. I always make," Welker said.

Some questioned Tom Brady's pass but Welker insisted, "I think (Brady) was a little worried about the safety so he threw it a little wider or whatever," Welker said. "But I mean, it's right there. It hits me right in the hands. It's one I'll have to live with."

Taking the brunt of the teams failures, if Welker feels that his team made a list of mistakes, he took the heap. "I'm right there at the top of the list," he said.

According to the wide receiver's biography for the New England Patriots, "Welker holds the four highest single-season reception totals in Patriots history, as well as four of the top 10 receiving yardage totals, including the franchise record. He also holds the franchise records for most receptions in a single game, most receiving yards in a single game, and longest reception.

Those facts however have not encouraged the player about the future of his career. "It comes to the biggest moment in my life and I don't come up with it. It's discouraging," he said.
