Will and Jada Smith Knock Back Divorce Rumors

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were reluctantly forced to make a joint public statement Tuesday to personally deny rumors that their 13-year marriage had hit the rocks and was on the verge of divorce.

Rumors about their marriage were jumped upon by the media Tuesday after publication In Touch Weekly reported that an “insider” had told them that the couple was separating. The news shocked fans as the Smiths were famous for their devotion to each other and their marriage, and there had been little hint of any big problems between the pair in recent months.

In a joint statement released on Tuesday afternoon the couple stated: “Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”

The couple married in 1997, and had become famous for being one of few shining examples of a good marriage to have come out of a Hollywood known for quick marriages and even quicker divorces.

In 2006 Will Smith told MTV, “Divorce can’t be an option. With Jada, I stood up in front of God and said, ‘Til death do us part.’ So there are two possible outcomes. One, we are going to be together till death, or two, I am dead.”

Will’s son Trey Smith was quick to offer his backing to his father by using his Twitter account Tuesday to quash the rumors: “Will and Jada getting a DIVORCE … NOT TRUE AT ALL!! RETWEET.”

Other sources were also offering their support to the under fire couple. RadarOnline reported that an unidentified family member confirmed to them rumors of a split were false.

“They’re happy and married still,” said the unidentified insider.

RadarOnline also reported that a second source denied the break up. The insider works closely with Will Smith at his production company, Overbrook Entertainment, and said, “The rumors are not true. Not sure who the source was but they are wrong. All is good in their relationship.”

Us Weekly released a report from yet another insider, who said the rumor of Will and Jada splitting was “100 percent not true… It’s totally bull****.”

The couple have two children together, Jaden, 13, and Willow, 10, in addition to Will’s 18-year-old son Trey from his first marriage.
