Will Smith Reveals Secret to 15-Year Marriage With Jada

Will Smith recently opened up about his 15-year marriage to Jada following months of divorce reports, and the actor explained how exactly the couple maintains a strong marriage.

"We make the effort to always put the family first," Smith told People at last week's Men in Black III premiere in New York City.

"Being there for each other and being present with our kids is the most important thing. I take being a parent very seriously," he added.

The pair, who share three children Trey, 19, Jaden, 13, and Willow, 11, found themselves mired in controversy when it was alleged that their 15-year marriage was in trouble due to alleged infidelities which they both denied.

"What's helped us is being supportive, no matter what the situation is. I'm so lucky to have someone like Jada. She's really an incredible woman, wife and mother," he said. "[Jada] is just absolutely hardcore, like she absolutely is unfazed by the weight and the pressures of life. She is so calm and cool and easy in any situation. She can bear anything, and I just love that about her."

Smith's statement comes just three months after it was reported that Jada had allegedly retained celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser after the pair separated their children, according to Hollywood Life.

"The kids are really suffering. They haven't spent any time as a whole family in months, and it's not going to happen anytime soon -- if ever again," a source told HollywoodLife.

Smith, 43, was said to be living in Pennsylvania with Jaden, while Jada reportedly took Willow, where the two were living separately in Los Angeles.

"The kids hear everything that Will and Jada say about each other. They've shed tears over it. It's a hard time for them," an unnamed source said.

Jada's former stepfather previously told Star magazine that Will and Jada's marriage has been rocky, but that he is confident that they would do everything possible to protect their two children during their marital troubles.

"I'm sure [Will and Jada] take it into consideration, the psychological impact on the kids and what they could do to make it minimal. It would surprise me if they stayed together," Warren Brown told Star.
