Women of Faith Awards Nominees Sought 2003 Awards Focused on Public Services

LOUISVILLE - Nominations are being sought for the 2003 Women of Faith Awards of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Deadline for nominations is January 15, 2003.

The focus of the 2003 awards - which will be presented at the annual Women of Faith Awards Breakfast at next May's 215th General Assembly in Denver - is on women working in government or other public service.

This marks the second of a three-year emphasis of awards on the theme "faith-informed work." In 2002, the awards honored women in business, finance or economics. In 2004, the award will recognize women in the fields of science, technology or engineering.

To be considered, a nominee must be living our her Christian vocation as government worker, civil servant, elected official, diplomat, public policy advocate, United Nations employee, as a member of a government board, a theologian addressing issues of civic life, a military chaplain, a public school teacher, an ethicist, or the like.

A nominee must be a living Presbyterian woman, lay or clergy, who in her life exemplifies faith in God and commitment to the mission of the PC(USA).

Award-winners will be chosen by a panel of representatives from groups related to the Women's Ministries Program Area of the National Ministries Division.
