‘More than a monarch’: World leaders react to the death of Queen Elizabeth II
United Kingdom

Recently elected U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss, who once advocated for the abolition of the British monarchy, posted an official statement on Twitter about the death of the queen.
“Queen Elizabeth II was the rock on which modern Britain was built. Our country has grown and flourished under her reign,” wrote Truss.
“In the difficult days ahead, we will come together with our friends across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world to celebrate her extraordinary lifetime of service.”
“God save the King,” she added, referring to the new monarch, King Charles III.
