Power of the cross

Dan Beazley of Northville, Michigan, carried a 65-pound cross with him to the March for Life, which he transports in a pickup truck across the U.S.

"I go wherever the Lord tells me to take it," he said. He was in the nation's capital on the day the Dobbs decision came down and restored the ability for states to enact abortion bans and restrictions.

Beazley attended the March for Life for the first time this year. He praised states like Texas for "going pro-life" following the Dobbs decision while lamenting that his home state enacted "the most vicious abortion laws that you can possibly imagine."

"We're here to pray against that, and we know that the power of prayer will work," Beazley said. He cited the stunning recovery of NFL football player Damar Hamlin after suffering cardiac arrest on the football field as an example of the power of prayer, recalling how "the whole country came together and prayed for that man, and now we see what it can do." He expressed confidence that "prayer can eliminate abortion as well."
