A Lifelong LEGO® Builder’s Origin Story

“I was never the kid winning building competitions, but I grew up on LEGO. The Star Wars sets were my favorite, and I put wayyyy too many hours into the LEGO Star Wars video games! I've always been a visual learner, and that never went away,” Sean recalls.

“I was preaching at a series of meetings, and while most were engaged, some of the youth weren’t exactly glued to their seats.”

He explains, “…outside, I saw something incredible—kids and young adults gathered  around a table, using their building sets to recreate the Tabernacle.

And that’s when it hit me...

Jesus taught with parables and object lessons because He knew the power of visual learning. If He used hands-on learning to teach His people, shouldn’t we do the same?”

He had always wished as a kid that Bible-inspired sets like this would be available to build and help make scripture more understandable. So why not build one?

Sean Starts With the Hardest Build (The Tabernacle)

In a world pulling kids away from faith, Sutton says “it’s time to Bring the Bible to life in a way they’ll never forget.

[We are] using Jesus’ unique teaching style—parables, short stories, illustrations from everyday life—and inviting people to walk with Him and keep their hands busy.”

And busy they become! Bible Bricks launched with “The Tabernacle” as its premier set, diving head-first into a kit that God Himself has offered specific instructions for. (Or rather,  He required specific details for the real tabernacle!)

Sutton meticulously followed God’s biblical instructions on how the tabernacle was to be constructed:

• Sacred furnishings like the showbread table, incense altar, and Ark of the Covenant
• Sanctuary and courtyard layout
• Specific dimensions of each element
• Materials, colors, and coverings

The “Tabernacle” set crushed Sutton’s $10,000 fundraising goal, raising over $245,000 from 1,699 backers.

Clearly Sean and his students were not the only people waiting for Bible-based sets.

Thrown to the Lions on Kickstarter

Now he’s doing it again! Sutton is back with his most ambitious set yet: “Daniel & The Lion’s Den!”

Featuring 1,723 pieces and all-new high-detail figures for play within the large Babylonian palace, builders of all ages will enjoy playing with:

• 2 lions
• Daniel
• King Darius
• Guard & satraps
• Angel 

The beautiful 3-level palace includes iconic locations like: Daniel’s prayer room, King Darius’ chamber, a working trap door—and yes—the lion’s den!

This set is the beginning of an ambitious new series in the larger Daniel Collection.

Bible Bricks’ Universe of Sets

Sutton’s plan is to release a wide range of sets in different collections. So far he has released “Sanctuary” and “Messiah” sets, including both figure scale and micro-scale options.

“Messiah: The Life of Christ” sets, for instance, join together in micro-scale and make for beautiful, joinable displays to show off your builds.

Sutton plans to release many more, bringing to life many other parts of the Bible for kids and adults alike.

Building Bricks With Eternal Value?

This appears to be a common sentiment, with Bible Bricks fans like Melissa C. calling Bible Bricks, “Answered prayers…! These sets appear to be much needed for helping adults and children alike. As Vickie B. puts it, “I [had] just finished reading the Old Testament. And as I was reading about God’s Tabernacle (and all the measurements and placement of things) I was trying to visualize it in my mind. Yes, I have pictures, but THIS HANDS on model would be incredible! I visualize doing it with my 10-year-old grandson (who is an expert in building). Then we can launch into Jesus… the ultimate sacrifice! As a former teacher, I am stoked!”

As Sutton releases future sets, many more opportunities to discuss scripture and learn about the truth of God’s Word will become available.
