'Arrival': Amy Adams Makes Contact With Aliens; Just Released Full-Length Trailer; 'Arrival' Release Date
The future of Earth depends on a linguist played by Amy Adams
The unsettling second teaser trailer for "Arrival" gives a glimpse of Louise Banks, the linguist played in the movie by Amy Adams. Although rather cryptic, the teaser also gave the audience a first look at the extraterrestrial visitors. Besides the teaser trailer, the first official photos of the movie have also surfaced.
Spacecraft Fleet Lands in Different Places on Earth
The sci-fi drama directed by Denis Villeneuve starts when a mysterious spacecraft fleet landed in different places all over the world. To address the crisis, the government creates a task force that includes Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. Being a linguist, it is left for Adams character to make contact with the aliens and find out what they came for.
The first teaser trailer of "Arrival" was cut right before Louis makes actual contact with the mysterious aliens. The new one gives the viewers a short glimpse of them while Louise tries to decipher what they are saying. However, Russian soldiers attacked and were able to kill one of the aliens giving Louise very little time to establish contact before the aliens declare an all-out war on mankind.
Why Do the Aliens Look That Way?
The full-length trailer of "Arrival" certainly raised interest for the film but at the same time posed some rather fascinating questions about it. For instance, those who have seen the trailer want to know why the spaceship and the aliens look the way they do in the movie. The aliens bringing a little birdie inside the ship also makes the audience curious. Finally, how does Amy Adams' character make sense of what the visitors are saying?
In an interview, Adams insists that the movie is not just about language but has to do more about the way people communicate with each other, their relationships and the choices they have to make. Renner on the other hand refuses to give up any of the film's secrets since there are things in the movie that he is not allowed to talk about he said.
A Beautiful and Heart Wrenching Film
If there is anything that he is willing to talk about though is how director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) kept a relaxing atmosphere in the set. Renner gushed that the set had some eerie calmness that it didn't feel like they were filming at all.
However, once Renner saw the movie, he realized how good their director was. He called the film beautiful and heart wrenching that is guaranteed to make people walk out if the theaters weeping. The two-time Oscar-nominee plays mathematician Ian Donnelly who assists Louise in deciphering the strange language of the aliens.
"Arrival" will be released on November 11 in the U.S.
