Dallas Cowboys NFL Trade News 2017: Cowboys Veteran Cornerback Brandon Carr Gets Four-Year Deal With Ravens

Veteran cornerback Brandon Carr will be moving on to the Baltimore Ravens, having signed a four-year contract with the team on Thursday, March 16. Carr has been a solid defense option for the Dallas Cowboys during the five seasons he's been with the team.

The news was announced by the official Twitter account of the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, March 16. Judging by the comments, the move was well hidden by the team's managers, catching many Ravens fans off guard.

Adam Schefter, a National Football League (NFL) insider for ESPN, has tweeted the details of the deal from his source. Carr's new contract starts with a one-year deal that can be extended through a set of options, up to a possible $24 million for up to four seasons with the team. In Schefter's estimate, the deal is most likely split up into a two-year, $12 million per extension type of package.

Carr got his start with a four-year season with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to the Bleacher Report. By the time the 2012 NFL season has come around, Carr has moved on to the Dallas Cowboys where he has become a pivotal piece of their defense composition.

Carr spent five seasons playing for the Dallas Cowboys as a veteran cornerback. He ended up as the 52nd-ranking cornerback by the end of last season, according to Around the NFL. He has been a starter for every game he's been in since 2008, making him a core player for the Cowboys in the years he has been with them.

In the 83 games that Carr started in, he recorded 315 tackles, 45 pass breakups, seven intercepts and two defensive touchdowns, as tallied by the report of the Dallas Cowboys. Recently, the five-year, $50.1-million contract that he signed with the Cowboys in 2012 has just ended.
