'Days of Our Lives' Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Star Announces Her Exit

Fans of the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives" will be unhappy to hear that a cast member will soon be leaving the cast.

One of the stars from "Days of Our Lives" recently announced that she will be leaving the series. Kate Mansi, who plays the role of Abigail Deveraux, posted a photo on Instagram earlier this week with a heartbreaking caption.

She revealed that she will no longer be on the series starting this May. Mansi has been playing the role of Deveraux since 2011. After many rumors, Mansi decided to announce the news herself. Her instagram post stated, "I've kept quiet as long as I could, but since it seems news has leaked, I feel I owe it to you all to set the record straight. Alright… here it is: After much thought, I've decided the timing was right for me to set sail from Salem. I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every single beautiful and messy moment of being Abigail, and will always treasure our time together. I want to be very clear in saying that this was not a decision I took lightly. It was important for me to see Abigail through the most recent storyline, as well as through the show's historic 50th anniversary celebration."

She also explained that she has put so much effort into playing the role of Abigail that she cannot wait for the fans to see what her character will be up to for the rest of her stay. She then commended the "Days of Our Lives" cast, as well as the supportive fans of the series.

With her departure, fans are wondering about the fate of her character. There are reports stating that Abigail could see her end or possibly be recasted. However, there has yet to be any confirmation on whether the role will be played by a new actress.

"Days of Our Lives" airs on NBC every week day.
