There's just no stopping the Song-Song tandem. Korean stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are shining even brighter in the eyes of their gazillions of fans following the meteoric rise to success of the hit romantic drama series, the "Descendants of the Sun."
The couple, which has been rumored to be dating each other, are two of the most in demand actors in South Korea today.
The Show Reaps a Lot of Success
Adding to its already impressive number of awards, "Descendants Of The Sun" turned out to be the biggest winner of the night at the previously held Asia Pacific Actors Network or APAN Star Awards 2016. Both the show and the cast were recognized during the night when they took home two of the biggest awards.
The TV series was named "Drama Of The Year Award" by the jury, while lead actor Song Joong Ki was given the highly-prestigious "Grand Excellence Award" for his outstanding performance in the show.
The Korean actor, who plays the role of Captain Yoo Si Jin in the series, also went home with two their awards, including the "Best Couple Award" with Song Hye Kyo, to the delight of their fans.
The couple also receives other coveted awards for themselves like the "Goddess of Asia 2016" distinction for Song Hye Kyo and the most influential person in the entertainment industry in South Korea plum for Joong Ki.
Currently, the two are busy with their own respective projects The actor is currently working on his upcoming film "Battleship Island," while his onscreen partner teams up with Lee Min Ho for a new show on TV.
'Descendants of the Sun' Season 2 Updates
Some reports are claiming that the couple won't be returning for the sequel of the "Descendants of the Sun," citing conflicts of schedule between the two actors. Another article stated that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are still going to lead the cast.
This time around, the series will revolve around the family life of Captain Yoo Si Jin and Dr. Kang Mo Yeon. According to GameNGuide, the two will exchange vows in the upcoming season and will even have children.
Meanwhile, another report surfaced that the couple will star in a new project, another drama series entitled, "Man To Man."
Whether the pair is going to reprise their roles for the season 2 of DOTS or not, one thing's for sure. The drama series will return sometime in 2017 according to the producers.
