The fans of the hit romantic drama, the "Descendants of the Sun," are just so used to seeing lead actor Song Joong Ki in an army combat uniform. The Korean actor played the role of Captain Yoo Si Jin in the series.
Recently, he was also spotted donning army clothes and the photo went viral on the web. Unfortunately for the many supporters of both the show and the actor, it was not part of any filming production for the Season 2 of the KBS program.
Song Joong Ki Attends His Army Reserve Force Training
Song Joong Ki's photo circulated around the net after it was uploaded on Oct. 12. The caption for the image reads, "Wow it's Yoo Si Jin. [I'm] a reservist with Song Joong Ki hyung, sorry for taking the photo without permission."
The actor can be seen standing in what seems like a queue. He's not facing the camera, but most of his ardent followers can tell for sure that it's, in fact, Joong Ki, holding an army hat while waiting for something in line.
In South Korea, a conscription law demands its male citizens who have come of the right age to attend a compulsory military service, which lasts for a minimum of almost two years. After fulfilling their duties, they would still have to undergo days of training every year for a certain period.
'Descendants of the Sun' Season 2 to be Shot in Europe?
Meanwhile, the other half of the Song-Song tandem has also been seen in a lot of photos lately, but not in a medical scrubs.
Song Hye-Ko has been very generous with her fans in sharing photos of her on a recent trip to some parts of Europe via her Instagram account. She was seen vacationing in Paris, France and some parts of Italy.
This fueled the speculation that she might be there to do some sort of an ocular visit to what could be the sequel's filming locations. She is rumored to also take the producer's role in the upcoming season.
But, more intriguing angles also came out. Some fans believe that she was, actually, there having a grand time with rumored real-life partner Song Joong Ki for a romantic getaway. Others went so far as to say that the couple was also in Norway for their honeymoon after their secret wedding.
The home network of the "Descendants of the Sun" officially confirmed that there will, indeed, be a sequel to the Korean drama series. Jung Sung Ho, the head of the drama department for KBS2 Network, said that it's their way to give back to their loyal viewers.
The fanbase of the show include many viewers from outside the country. Sung Ho said that fans can expect the follow-up to the series to air by 2017.
