Ramirez's reply was vague but some fans immediately speculated that the network is on the verge of renewing the television drama. The actress' short reply consoled some avid followers, who have been rallying on Twitter in the past days and demanding for the fifth season.

Low Ratings

Aside from cheering some fans, Ramirez also posted a strong statement for the fans who wanted the show to return for its fifth season. She said that if fans really love the series and do not want it to end, they should watch it live. "Those are just TV rules," she expressed.

Moreover, Sabrina Wind, the executive producer of the show, retweeted Ramirez's statement. Wind has been noticeably inactive on her Twitter account since the comedy-drama series ended on Aug. 8.

The Christian Post reported earlier that if ratings are an indicator, there is a big possibility that Lifetime will ax the series. The entire run of Season 4 engaged an average of 923,000 viewers only, while the season ender had 859,000 viewers.

Lifetime remained silent regarding the cancellation or renewal of the series. But Atlanta Journal Constitution speculated that the network may follow the schedule last year when it did not announce the show's renewal until Sept. 26, 2015.

Who Kidnapped Marisol?

The fourth season of "Devious Maids" left with the mysterious disappearance of Marisol Suarez (Ana Ortiz) on her wedding day with Peter Hudson (James Denton). In an interview with TVLine, Wind revealed that the cliffhanger will be the focus of the fifth season.

Wind stated that Marisol's disappearance will weave the story of the upcoming season. She hinted that it will be a completely new story as they have many thoughts on what the disappearance means.

Several speculations about the cliffhanger surfaced since the television series ended. Australia Network News predicted that the kidnapper could be Peter, Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci) or Jesse (Nathan Owens).

According to the article, Genevieve could be the kidnapper because she is emotionally unstable and has a past relationship with Peter. On the other hand, Jesse is another potential kidnapper because he is Marisol's former love interest and he might be obsessed with his former flame.
