"Devious Maids" Season 4 ended on Monday by revealing the mysterious killer of Peri Westmore (Mariana Klaveno). Now that the driving mystery of the fourth season has been finally answered, the Lifetime drama series is aiming to return for its fifth season to tackle the cryptic disappearance of Marisol Suarez (Ana Ortiz).

'Devious Maids' Season 4 Finale Twists

Per EW, the Season 4 finale of "Devious Maids" revealed that Gail Fleming (Julie Claire), the secret daughter of director Hugh Metzger (Sam McMurray), is the surprise killer of Peri. It was unveiled that Peri was assaulted by Hugh, however, she opted to keep it a secret in exchange of the agreement that she will be made into a star.

Peri later decided to spill the secret after she caught Hugh trying to rape another woman. To cover up her father's acts, Gail killed Peri to stop her from speaking out.

Aside from the big revelation, it also featured Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) and Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) signing their divorce papers, Rosie Westmore (Dania Ramirez) informing Spence (Grant Show) about her pregnancy, and Zoila Diaz (Judy Reyes) getting back to work for Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci). Sharon Lawrence also made her first appearance on the series as Genevieve's same-sex love interest.

Is 'Devious Maids' Cancelled?

The fourth season finale ended with a cliffhanger that could be the fifth season's main focus. Marisol mysteriously disappeared on her wedding day with Peter Hudson (James Denton).

Executive producer Sabrina Wind told TVLine that Lifetime has not yet confirmed the drama's renewal for its fifth season. She revealed that if the network will give them the chance, the fifth season will tackle the disappearance of Mirasol who was presumably kidnapped.

Wind also teased that the potential fifth season will highlight the same-sex romance of Genevieve and the possible marriage reconciliation of Evelyn and Adrian.

Optimistic About Season 5

Showrunner Brian Tanen shared to EW that he is optimistic that the series about Latina maids will be renewed by Lifetime. Wind also added that she is confident about the renewal because the network gave them positive feedback after the Season 4 finale.

According to Movie News Guide, "Devious Maids" is on the brink of cancellation because of the low ratings of its fourth season. As of press time, there is still no official announcement from Lifetime about the show's cancellation or renewal.

It can be recalled that last year, the series also faced cancellation rumors. However, fans were surprised last September when Lifetime ordered the renewal of the show.
