Several reports surfaced that the mystery comedy-drama series, which centers on a group of Latina maids working in the homes of Beverly Hills, has been axed because of its dwindling ratings. Per TV Series Finale, the entire run of the show's fourth season has engaged an average of 923,000 viewers only.

Moreover, the series' finale last week only had 859,000 viewers, one of the least watched episodes of the fourth season. The highest rated episode of the season is the pilot episode in May that raked 1.080 million audience.
Ratings are usually the best indicator of a show's staying power on air. The numbers of "Devious Maids" have been constantly falling as the season progresses.
The pilot season of the drama series that premiered in 2013 was a massive hit, attracting 1.99 million viewers. The audience peaked to 2.90 million on its sixth episode while the season finale recorded the show's all-time high ratings of almost 3 million viewers.
There's Hope
As of press time, Lifetime has yet to give an official statement about the cancellation or renewal of "Devious Maids" for its Season 5. According to Atlanta Journal Constitution, there are still chances for the television series to return because the network may follow the timeline last year when it did not renew the show until Sept. 26, 2015.
Showrunner Brian Tanen told EW last week that just like the past seasons, they are optimistic that Lifetime will renew the drama. He said that they proceeded with the finale of the fourth season with the assumption that the fifth installment is coming.
Executive producer Sabrina Wind was also confident that Lifetime will renew the series for its fifth season. She shared that they have every reason to be optimistic because they received positive feedback from the network about the show's season finale.

Wind teased that if they will be renewed for the fifth season, they will explore new avenues. She also confirmed that the one of the main focus of the upcoming installment is the mysterious the disappearance of Marisol Suarez (Ana Ortiz) on the day of her wedding with Peter Hudson (James Denton).
The executive producer also hinted that the potential season will highlight the romance of Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci) and her same-sex love interest (Sharon Lawrence). She also said that Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) and Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) may end up together again after the divorce.
