Joe Jonas Offers Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber Advice

Joe Jonas, the 24-year-old musician and actor, has advice for fellow entertainers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.

While Bieber, 19, has had his share of legal woes Gomez, 21, recently made headlines for her reported stint in a rehabilitation facility last year. As a former child star, Jonas said he could relate to the pair and dished out some advice.

"Something that I heard from someone I looked up to was, 'Watch the people around you and learn from their mistakes so you don't make the same,'" Jonas told E! News. "I just held on to that and any time I saw a celebrity I really looked up to screw up, I just was like 'All right, I am not going to do that or try my best ability to avoid that,' so it's just a learning tool."

Bieber, the 19-year-old Canadian singer, was accused of assaulting a limousine driver in Toronto, arrested for a DUI and questionable driving in Miami, accused of egging his neighbor's home and pictured performing questionable acts with strippers recently. While Gomez has been the subject of media scrutiny after her rehabilitation was announced recently, Jonas had nothing but nice things to say about her.

"Her career's been great and she is going to succeed and I want her to succeed and I want her to be happy," he told E!

Jonas and his brothers Kevin and Nick have been known as The Jonas Brothers band since 2005 but broke up last October. Nick Jonas, the 21-year-old singer who once dated Bieber's ex-girlfriend Gomez, previously spoke about Bieber's legal issues.

"Here's what I'll say is that everyone has to go through a period of growth," Jonas said on the Bravo show "Watch What Happens Live" last year. "I think he's in that period now. I wish the best for him 'cause I do think he's a talented person. But he just has to get through a season of growth."
