Jonny Lee Miller to Play Sherlock Holmes in New CBS Pilot

Jonny Lee Miller who played the role of killer Jordan Chase in "Dexter," has landed the role as iconic detective Sherlock Holmes in the new CBS pilot "Elementary."

CBS's latest show in the works has been described as a modern New York take on the cases of the famous detective.

Fans of BBC's popular "Sherlock" are not so impressed however with CBS's new show idea, which they feel may overshadow the BBC version.

"Elementary" will mark the return to television for British actor Miller, for the first after his eight episode guest starring role, as Chase, the motivational speaker with a sinister secret on Showtime's cult favorite, "Dexter."

The actor, first made his mark in the industry cast in the 1995 film "Hackers," starring opposite Angelina Jolie, and in the U.K. with 1996 film "Trainspotting" where he gained recognition playing the role of Sick Boy. After meeting Jolie on the set of "Hackers," the pair went on to marry in 1996.

Miller worked steadily in the industry in Britain, until he landed a two season role in the popular American TV series Eli Stone in 2008, and the role of antagonist Jordan Chase in "Dexter." Miller has also taken the stage winning the lead role in the Broadway play "After Miss Julie."

Jonny Lee Miller is also signed on to play Roger Collins in the Tim Burton film, "Dark Shadows."

"Elementary" is one of eight drama pilots currently in the works at CBS, and will by written by Robert Doherty.
