LeBron James is apparently determined to get better to defend their NBA title. With the opening of the 2016-17 season coming around the corner, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar already looks insanely in-shape for another triumphant run in the court.

Wildly Intense Workouts

Through his social media accounts, James gave a glimpse of his hardcore offseason workouts. He recently posted a video of him sprinting on the treadmill with teammate J.R. Smith on the background marveling at the NBA Finals MVP's intense regimen.

In the past weeks, James was very vocal about his goal to get better in the upcoming season. The 31-year-old small forward mentioned in a podcast interview that he has been regularly waking up at 5 a.m. this summer to start his intense training.

The four-time NBA MVP also told ESPN that his basketball skills are not yet declining despite the length of his career in the league. He stated that he has been playing professionally for almost 14 years but he believes he is still getting better.


The Champion's Diet

James also sat down with the Business Insider and revealed his special diet on game days. Unlike other athletes who consume thousands of calories, the NBA Finals MVP disclosed that he sticks to a healthy diet.

According to James, his diet before a competition would include a chicken breast and a small amount of pasta. He said that carbohydrates are important to his diet because it helps him sustain his energy and play longer minutes in the court.

James added that salad and some vegetables, as well as, protein shake and some fruits, would also make him perfectly fine before the game. He stressed that he avoids pies, pizzas, sandwiches and French fries during competitions and reserves them as a reward after the game.

Regular Workouts

Aside from revealing his diet, James also shared the workout regimen that made him a champion. He disclosed that he trains five days a week during off-season and seven days a week during game days.

James said that his workout routine varies depending on his mood. He shared that aside from the traditional gym workouts, he also does Pilates, VersaClimber, spinning and other fitness classes.

James is set to become the highest-paid NBA player of all time after he signed a three-year $100-million contract with the Cavaliers this free agency period. In his 14 years in the league, he already won three NBA championships and averaged 25.3 points, 6.5 assists and 7.4 rebounds.
