While in his hospital bed, a confused Walt tries to make sense of the shooting and what will be his and Donna's fate. Even their relationship becomes uncertain.

New trailer released

One thing that is certain is that Longmire is being hunted. In the trailer, a flashback of the shooting was shown. In another scene, Walt was telling somebody that he cannot remember anything about the attack while trying to figure out what happened at the same time.

Mathias (Zahn McClarnon) is also seen saying to Henry (Lou Diamond Phillips) that he might not go to jail if he does something for him. Later, Walt will be accusing Henry of betrayal and telling him that "dishonesty is disloyalty".

A new love interest

Meanwhile, "Longmire" Season 5 spoilers reveal that the budding attraction between Sheriff Longmire and his deputy, Victoria Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) will go further to the next level. Not a few avid fans of the series predict that the upcoming season will focus on their budding romance since they have to work closely with each other during the entire fifth season.

Updates on other characters

Another storyline for "Longmire" Season 5 belongs to Cady (Cassidy Freeman), who was being forced to serve out the deal she made with Jacob Nighthorse (A. Martinez). In the process, she commits the ultimate betrayal against her father. Adding to the tension is the fact that she is unable to represent him against the wrongful death lawsuit brought against him by Barlow Connally's family.

Vic finds a new level of independence while Ferg (Adam Bartley) starts a new relationship, but deception appears to lurk underneath the surface of the said relationship.

Henry and Walt at odds

"Longmire" Season 5 will also find Henry caught in the middle of two warring parties. His allegiance to either party could have deadly consequences.

In an interview, Phillips said that Henry's personal advocacy to bring justice to his people will somehow put him at odds with Longmire. The two friends' conflict will be one of the central issues of "Longmire" Season 5.

Phillips added that the upcoming season of "Longmire" will reveal if Henry did cut a deal with Mathias. It will be interesting to see the extent the conflict will bring to Henry and Walt. Fans of the series hope that the two well-meaning friends will rise above the issue.

"Longmire" is a crime thriller that is based on the mystery novels by Craig Johnson about a rural plains sheriff named Walt Longmire. The series had a successful three-season run on the A&E Network before it was unceremoniously cancelled. Netflix ultimately became its savior when the streaming giant picked the series up for its fourth season.

Netflix will release "Longmire" Season 5 on September 23.
