'Metal Gear Survive' Release Date Set for February 2018

Fans of the "Metal Gear" franchise will have something to look forward to in the early parts of 2018.

Konami finally announced that "Metal Gear Survive" will be released on Feb. 20 in the United States next year. Fans in Europe, however, will have to wait two more days for its launching in the region on Feb. 24. The game developer made the announcement through the "Metal Gear" official Twitter account.

Moreover, Konami also confirmed that gamers can start pre-ordering the title through Konami's website. Those who will pre-order the game will also get the Survival Pack that comes with gold-plated weapons, namely, a bat, a sledgehammer, a survival spear, and a survival machete.

The pack also comes with happy and thumbs-up gestures, four survival scarves in blue, green, silver, and pink, and a Kabuki face paint.

In addition, the kit also includes the Boxman accessory and the Mother Base nameplate.

According to Gamespot, the confirmation came just a day after Konami teased its fans of an impending announcement for "Metal Gear Solid." "Announcement coming tomorrow. Stay tuned. #MGSurvive," wrote Konami on Twitter last Tuesday. Furthermore, it was the first time the developer mentioned anything about the game after a few months of silence.

Meanwhile, Polygon reported that "Metal Gear Survive" will come with a $39.99 price tag. The same pre-order details that were announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One also apply to the game's version for Windows PC, the report added.

"Metal Gear Survive" is a spin-off to "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" with its setting based on the events between "Phantom Pain" and "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes." The game was initially set for release this year, but Konami announced during the E3 event that they will be pushing the release day further to 2018.

The developer said that they required more time to polish certain aspects of the game.
