Nike introduces Hyperadapt 1.0, the first power lacing shoes

Nike fans will have something to look forward to by the end of the year as the multinational corporation introduced a pair of shoes that is taking innovation to a whole new level. According to a report by CNBC, Nike has announced the first sneaker with "power lacing" during an event in New York. Dubbed as the Nike Hyperadapt 1.0, the shoes has self-lacing system that is inspired by the one featured in the 1989 film "Back to the Future II."

ESPN detailed that when an athlete wears the shoes, it closes in around the foot as the heel touches the sensor that automatically tightens it. It does not work like magic though just like it did for Marty McFly. There are buttons installed that will do the adjusting. Pushing the plus button will tighten it more while the minus button loosens it up. To remove, the user will have to hold the minus button for about two seconds.

Moreover, the Nike Hyperadapt 1.0 is composed of the technology combinations of Nike's previous innovations in materials and stitching which are the FlyWeave and FlyWire. It is also incorporated with the E.A.R.L. or the Electro Adaptive Reactive Lacing. Aside from that, a charger is provided as the shoes will require a charge about every two weeks.

The self-lacing shoes isn't going to be available for everyone though. BBC noted that the kicks will be made available only to members of the newly unveiled Nike+ app. There is no specific date yet but it will be making its way out starting in late 2016. There is no price detail as well but it's expected that it's going to cost a lot more than the usual pairs in other collections. Gizmodo also reported that the Hyperadapt 1.0 will come in three different colors and it will be the first mass-produced sneaker of its kind.

"We think this is going to change the way all shoes are made in the future," the shoe's creator and lead Nike designer, Tinker Hatfield, said.
