OnePlus 3 Release Date & Rumored Specs: Metallic Body, Snapdragon 820, 13 MP Camera

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is rumored to release its next flagship device soon, which is the successor of the OnePlus 2, the OnePlus 3. According to GSM Arena, there are no official details yet regarding the device but there are some leaked renders of the smartphone device. A short product clip has recently been released as well, showcasing what the design of the upcoming handset may be.

As seen on the video, the OnePlus 3 is alleged to have a jet black metal frame that has a curvier touch to it compared to its predecessors. It's also observed that the signature sandstone back is nowhere to be found as it has been replaced with a brushed metal back. It also showed that it might have a dual-tone LED flash at the front, as well as at the back. The USB port shown is speculated to be Type-C and though it is not clear yet, the device may be carrying stereo speakers on the front.

Expert Reviews also noted that the unit does not have a home button and a fingerprint scanner that most fans expected. Previous rumors stated that the device will have an UltraSonic finger print sensor. For the other specifications, the OnePlus 3 is rumored to be equipped with the latest processor from Qualcomm which is the Snapdragon 820.

It is said to have two memory options—4 GB of RAM paired with 16 GB of storage space or 5 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal memory. Its camera specs may include a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

The screen size is supposedly 5.5 inches with 1080p resolution. Lawyer Herald also reported that it will have a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and iris recognition for unlocking the screen. There is no word yet on when the OnePlus 3 may be released but speculations point to a summer 2016 launch date. It's also expected to be available by invite-only just like the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2.
