"Peaky Blinders" Season 4 will not return to BBC Two anytime soon, but the avid fans of the Birmingham crime drama already started speculating about the future episodes. Will the new installment focus on Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) vs Michael Gray (Finn Cole) storyline?
Tommy vs Michael
Michael, Aunt Polly's (Helen McCrory) long-lost biological son, is among the most remarkable characters last season. He is both loved and loathed by the fans of the series because of his effortless transformation from a fresh-faced accountant to a full-fledged gangster.
Michael Hogan of The Daily Telegraph predicted in May that Tommy and Michael might clash in the third season. He said that Michael developed into an "increasingly self-assured" character over the course of the show and he could end up bumping heads with his cousin Tommy.
Hogan's prediction did not take place in the third installment and it is more likely that the feud between the two fearless gangsters will finally happen in Season 4. According to Nicole Weaver of Cheat Sheet, there are signs that Michael will play a bigger role in the upcoming season.
Weaver stated that Michael had an interesting journey with two murders under his belt and the willingness to go after for more. She added that Michael has the potential to go against the overall leader of the Peaky Blinders.
The Cliffhanger May Trigger the Cousins' Feud
The third season of "Peaky Blinders" ended on a shocking cliffhanger, with most members of the Shelby family taken away in handcuffs due to Tommy's apparent betrayal. The fourth season of the crime drama will see how the mob boss will regain the trust of his family.
Murphy told Digital Spy that things have changed after the betrayal. He said the Shelby family really believes that Tommy betrayed them. He hinted the upcoming installment will showcase the anti-hero's attempts to demonstrate to them that he has a bigger plan behind the perceived betrayal.
As Tommy finds a way to turn things around in Season 4, there is a big possibility that Michael will go against him. According to The Week, Tommy's obvious betrayal to his family could trigger the feud between him and Michael.
"Peaky Blinders" Season 4 Air Date
As of press time, there is still no official air date for "Peaky Blinders" Season 4. If the show will follow its previous scheduling pattern, the new installment will more likely start airing on BBC Two at the end spring 2017. It is expected to arrive on Netflix weeks after the UK TV premiere.
