PS4 Sales: Fastest Selling Console in UK History Moving Over 250K Units in 48 Hours
The PlayStation 4 became the quickest selling console of all-time in the UK, selling over 250,000 units in just 48 hours.
Telegraph reports that the PS4 beat previous sales records set by the PSP and Xbox One. Microsoft had sold over 150,000 consoles in the first 48 hours of their launch.
The PS4 arrived in the UK on November 29, two weeks after it was released in America, where it sold over a million in 24 hours. Eight years ago, the PSP sold over 180,000 in its first 48 hours in the UK. Sony broke their own record and retains the title.

"PS4 has sold through over 1 million units with the 24 hours of the launch in North America!!! :D," Sony President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida announced on Twitter two weeks ago.
Xbox One sold over one million consoles globally in its first 24 hours following its launch in 13 markets including, North America, Australia, and parts of South America and Europe, on November 22.
"We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world," said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing and strategy at Xbox, in a released statement. "Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season."
The PS4 numbers were more impressive as it only launched in America when they moved a million units, compared to Xbox's multiple location launch. The real numbers are the sales in the individual countries, which in the UK's case, really shows the full story. PS4's 250K to Xbox One's 150K.
PlayStation 4 is available for $399 and the Xbox One is $499.
