'Skate 4' Listing Spotted At Australian Website; Rumored To Hit Console This Year

Fans of EA's skateboarding video game have one constant plea and that is for a sequel to their "Skate 3" which was released back in 2010. It's already been six years since the last game in the franchise but many are still hoping that "Skate 4" will become a reality. Apparently, there may yet be hope as several reports surfaced, saying that the fourth installment of the game may be coming soon.

According to a report by PixelDynamo, an Xbox One cover for "Skate 4" was spotted on JB Hi-Fi, a home entertainment retailer website based in Australia. It also detailed a potential release date for the game which is allegedly set on Aug. 23, 2016. Aside from that, the post also included a hint of a possible backwards-compatible version of "Skate 3" for the Xbox One.

The listing in the electronics website no longer exists as it had already been taken down, but many were able to get hold of proof of its existence. Before fans can get all excited about the fourth game, they will have to take note that it could be a fake photo made by one of the many fans who are greatly clamoring for the follow-up to "Skate 3." According to Design & Trend, several Reddit users voiced out their opinion on the photo and said that the cover was a fake.

The source reported that one user said that the cover art doesn't seem to match the style of the first three games of the franchise. The user also mentioned that the '4' in the photo looked like it was designed using Paint.net. But in case the game turns out to be true, PlayStation gamers will have to stay tuned to find out if the game will hit the platform as well.

"Skate 3" was released on PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, like the other two games, "Skate 2" and the original "Skate."
