' The Jungle Book 2' Update: Disney Already Working on Sequel with Jon Favreau

The 2016 live-action version of the 1967 tale "The Jungle Book has not been released in theaters in the U.S. and U.K. yet. But even so, reports say that it's going to have a part two. According to an article by The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Pictures is in the works for a " The Jungle Book 2" as early as now. The director, Jon Favreau is in negotiation to reprise his role to helm the second film and bring once again another story based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 classic of the same name.

Screenplay writer Justin Marks is also tapped to return to write the sequel, as well as Brigham Taylor, who produced the upcoming movie with Favreau. As to when it might hit theaters, there is no word yet. In fact, not a lot is known about the second installment yet except for the probable return of the aforementioned names.

"The Jungle Book" the movie is out already in a number of Asian and Latin American territories. Variety noted that the live-action has garnered a total gross of $28.9 million already during the opening of the film last week. In India alone, the film reached a gross of $7.6 million, which is the second highest industry opening for an American release.

Aside from North America and U.K., France, Germany, Ital, Spain, China, Mexico and Brazil will also have to wait for Friday to catch the film which tells the story the man-cub named Mowgli (Neel Sethi). It follows his adventure of trying to find out who he is while saving his life from the Bengal tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba). As detailed in The Guardian, Mowgli will start a journey of self-realization with the help of Bagheera the panther (Ben Kingsley) and Baloo the care-free bear (Bill Murray).

"The Jungle Book" also features the voice of Scarlet Johansson as Kaa the snake and Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha the mother wolf.
