Uber Promotion: Ice cream to be delivered free in 400 Cities in Partnership with Magnum

In partnership with Magnum Ice cream, Uber will send drivers in every participating city to deliver ice creams on Friday as a celebration to National Ice Cream Day.

In just a few couple of taps in Uber's app, you can now also let an Uber cab serve you--not by transportation, but by food delivery. On National Ice Cream Day, customers will be given the chance to order ice cream by visiting the Uber application from 11am-3pm as part of the #UberIceCream campaign. If your request is successful, you will be given Magnum ice cream bars delivered by an Uber driver in a few minutes. The delivery service will be free of charge, while each order will cost up to $10 - $13.

In ordering, the Uber smartphone app must be installed in your mobile device. You have to select the EATS option, then enter your location, view the menu and fill in your order. The order has no required limit, which means you can order for as much as you want, after all, order is free from any delivery charge.

Uber has teamed up with Magnum, the leading ice cream brand, in delivering "premium and indulgent ice cream bars."

Uber is also inviting consumers to participate in the online media trends by sharing their thoughts and experience and attaching the hashtag, #UberIceCream.

One's participation in the ice cream deal is actually a big help. Uber had stated on their website that in every purchased item through UberEATS, an equivalent $1 will be donated to the Food Bank for New York City, an organization that helps fight hunger in the city.

Uber is an online application developed by Uber Technologies, Inc. which allows commuters to use their smartphones in catching a cab in a convenient way.

The #UberIceCream on demand was first launched in 2012 in celebration of the National Ice Cream month. The campaign was first introduced in seven cities in America—San Francisco, New York, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto and Washington. The 2013, the campaign expanded in a larger scale. Aside from 18 cities in America included, Uber has also offered the promotion in 16 other international cities. In 2014, Uber Ice Cream was then launched in 144 cities in 38 countries. In 2015, the campaign expanded and grew bigger, covering 252 cities in 57 countries.

And this year, it had reached up to 400 cities in US, Canada, Europe, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, India, China, and other parts in North, South, and Southeast Asia.

The success of the on demand campaign has made Uber reach a global success in marketing.
