US Men's National Basketball Team at Rio 2016 Olympics, Game Schedule and Opponents: Nike Releases Short Film to Honor Team USA's Quest to Defend Gold Medal

As the United States Men's National Basketball Team continues to ace the court of the Rio 2016 Olympics, Nike released a moving short film to celebrate the national pride's unity and power.

Honoring Team USA

The two-minute short film "Unlimited Together" showcased the dominant roster of the American basketball team. Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George, DeMar DeRozan, Draymond Green, DeAndre Jordan, Kyle Lowry and Harrison Barnes were all featured in the short flick's dramatic shots.

Chicago-born artist Chance the Rapper provided the music of the black-and-white short film. His original composition "We the People" was also featured as the flick's soundtrack.

In addition to the Men's National Basketball Team, the US Women's National Basketball Team was also shown in the video.

The Short Film's Purpose

Per Cleveland.com, the stirring short film was created to celebrate the strength of unity and power of Team USA in the Rio 2016 Olympics. It is one of the short films released by Nike for its "Unlimited Campaign."

Aside from "Unlimited Together," Nike's campaign also includes short films "Unlimited You," "Unlimited Courage" and "Unlimited Future." All videos were intended to acknowledge the everyday and champion athletes who continue to hone their talents and push their limits to succeed.

Team USA's Current Standing

According to USAB, Team USA is dominating the preliminary round of the men's basketball in the Rio 2016 Olympics. As of press time, the national team recorded a 3-0 winning streak.

On its first game at the Rio 2016 Olympics, Team USA faced China, a familiar opponent which has been defeated by the team twice during the exhibition games. The match ended with an easy 119-62 victory for the American team.

On Aug. 8, Team USA found itself having a slow start against Venezuela. After struggling to find a rhythm, the team managed to pull away in the second quarter, leading to a 113-69 win.

Moreover, the US team played against the previously undefeated Australia on Wednesday. The team failed to widen the lead in almost all four quarters. In the last 4 minutes of the game, the team picked up and ended with a 98-88 win.

The U.S. Men's Basketball Team will continue its journey in the preliminary round and is scheduled to play against Serbia on Aug. 12 and France on Aug. 14. After the preliminary round, the top four teams will move forward to the quarterfinals on Aug. 17.

The semifinals for the men's basketball will take place on Aug. 19, while the finals will be played on Aug. 21.
